I was sent something by Heifer International today that had a “This I Believe” essay in it. It is wonderful. I was then prompted to go to the website to read more - I think it’s a great way to be receptive to other peoples’ views. We should all do it. Here’s the site: This I Believe, Inc.
In other news - a colleague at work sent me a link - that I shortened tremendously. It’s fun!

I’ve posted all the pictures. Some of the descriptions are filled in, some are not… Go here.
Can I go back now? I will be (hopefully!) getting some underwater pictures from my dive buddies, so stay tuned!!
I asked my boss if he could get me a job at the Tesco Lotus in Phuket - he said I would be ideal for stocking the top shelf. I could go diving all my weekends!!
Needless to say, I’m back to the grind… Boss told me he didn’t miss me, but many others told me he did.

When we make The New Yorker, I have to say - it’s kind of cool!!
A friend called it an article about the Morality and Science of Carbon Footprints. So far it’s good - I’ll report back when I’ve finished it…
*edit: it’s long, don’t know that I’ll be able to finish it this morning…

So, I went to the UK, for the swim portion of an Olympic distance triathlon… so I swam almost a mile, or a mile. It was cold, but it was great. I did it!! In 42:11 minutes.
I also got to meet some suppliers while over there, which was absolutely brilliant and I’m very thankful for that opportunity.
I got up at 8am on the return day, Saturday 11 August, and went to Heathrow for my flight at 3pm. I met my friend Steve there, and was upgraded. The flight was running 40 minutes late, apparently, so that was closer to 4pm. We landed at 7pm in LA, only to be told of the crazy computer outage, and were parked in a “remote location” until the computer could get fixed. We were pulled off the plane at 11pm. Check that out!! It was insane. At least they turned the entertainment system back on… I finished over 5 movies last night… ugh. Crazy.
But, I’m home, headed to work tomorrow - not sure how I feel about that. But, I missed my coworkers - insane, I know.

A very quiet British invasion
Tesco ambitiously lays the groundwork here for a different type of grocery store, Los Angeles Times, June 6, 2007
By Jerry Hirsch
With little fanfare so far, Tesco, Britain’s largest retailer, is spending as much as $2 billion to launch Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market, starting in the Southland, Las Vegas and Phoenix. Tesco, with more than $80 billion in annual sales, already operates in 13 countries and has about 370,000 employees.
