Two neato things

I was sent something by Heifer International today that had a “This I Believe” essay in it. It is wonderful. I was then prompted to go to the website to read more – I think it’s a great way to be receptive to other peoples’ views. We should all do it. Here’s the site: This I Believe, Inc.

In other news – a colleague at work sent me a link – that I shortened tremendously. It’s fun!

Duran Duran!!!

I saw Duran Duran last night at the new venue Nokia Center/Live/Whatever in Downtown LA last night. It was FANTASTIC!!! They played for QUITE a while, being that they’re old geezers… LOVED it, though. I am hoarse today. I danced and jumped up and down for the entire thing… I screamed when Simon took off his jacket and when he unbuttoned his black shirt (after a wardrobe change) – just like I imagine I would have done if I’d seen them when I was younger… It was awesome.

There were women sitting next to me that told their friends about me – on the way out they were talking about how much energy this girl next to them had… and then I walked out. They then said, “And there she is!!” So, it was fun.

I’m a little bit knackered today, though – give me strength and coffee to get through the day…

Only a Few Days Left!

I leave on Friday and I am VERY, VERY excited… I will try to keep this blog updated as often as possible… when I’m on the boat, though, it won’t be happening… sorry. Keep checkin’ back!!

Oh – and the Outer Limits Music Fest is happening in Golden Gate Park in August… very exciting!!

More about Amy…

WOW – Amy was on the Today show and she knocked them dead… well, she knocked me out. It was amazing. And she then was asked to be on Inside Edition – I’ll have to tivo that one too… and then interview requests have poured in from all over the world. This is so very exciting – AND DESERVED!!

Here’s her website: www.amywalker.info Check it out – I’m going to have to now get updated from there.

In other news – I spent the weekend out in the Inland Empire, and it was so flippin’ GREEN – amazing. Strange too – mostly b/c it’s so rarely that green… GORGEOUS – and the poppies and lupines and other flowers are blooming. Gorgeous.

My Friend Amy the Youtube STAR

My friend Amy, who I’ve known since I was young, and she was younger, has become a viral video sensation.

She was interviewed on NPR’s Day to Day show on Monday the 10th and I want to share it with all of you. Look her up. She does many accents and is very proficient at them. Listen here. Watch here.

She is going to be on NBC’s TODAY show on Thursday – I will post that link when I get it. It’s all very exciting!!!

My weekend in Seattle

I had THE BEST weekend in Seattle. It was THE FIRST time I’ve been back that I could even contemplate being back in SEA… that took a while. Like almost 8 years!

I loved showing my friends Loren and Mei-Lon around – they even came to NWS with me. We rode the ducks and ate at Salumi – Mario Batali’s dad’s charcuterie. It was delicious and an overwhelming amount of meat – if you like meat and sausage – go there. If not, don’t. We went to a benefit for a Northwest School Founder’s endowment – it’s a scholarship fun, and it meant so much to have been able to go. And my friends even enjoyed it! On Saturday we drove through the UW campus – had to do it… and then over the floating bridges (they’re pretty unusual) and ended up at my mecca – the downtown Nordstroms!! It is lovely – except that their shoe selection wasn’t so good. That night we went to Buca for my Seattle birthday celebration – it was great to see all of my friends. I have missed them. Sunday we went to Pike Place with ‘Berly, Erik and Quinn. He is almost a year, and has grown up so much – he’s so cute!

It was a quick trip, but it was seriously worth it.

new friends, old friends, and changes

I have to say that I really enjoy seeing my friends adapt and change – and come into their own. It’s amazing to see and an honor to be a part of.

I’m headed out on the town tonight with a good group of work friends – and I’m super stoked to be going out. It’s a proper night out (that’s the Brit-speak coming out), and I’ll report back later… maybe.
