Bleeding Kansas in SD

Okay, so I’ve raved about Esther’s theatre company before, and I’m about to do it again. Skip if you don’t totally care… Regardless, they’re doing BLEEDING KANSAS and it looks great. It’s fairly timely (about politics) and it looks great. I’ve been reading about the background work the cast has been doing and about the building of sets, etc, so I know I might be more excited about it than others, but… whatevs.

I am going this coming Sunday, after I do a crazy 1/2 mile swim in Mission Bay (cheer me on! Come at 7am!! Ha.), and then have a Bloody Mary at the Ivy in the Gaslamp. MMMMMMMMMM. Anyway, here’s a link for a review of it:

Come support local theatre. Local as in San Diego. OR, you can be like me and drive to SD.

kookiness

So, I’m looking for apartments again, and I found some great ones on CraigsList.org. I found one that looked too darn good to be true. But, I emailed, regardless, and got a response. In the response, this woman took the time to write out a long email, detailing a lot of info that a) I wouldn’t give to a stranger, and b) wouldn’t give to a stranger over the phone! She told me how much she made, how long she would be away, etc. In addition, the rental price is out of this world. It’s a downtown LA loft, and she wants $1350 for it – two bed, two bath. I looked at the Met Lofts on CraigsList and it came back with $2700 and higher.

Sounded too good to be true, so I asked a friend. He told me that if I wanted to look at it, it would work, but also that I should take someone with me – since I’m a chick… Very strange. They warn you to only do stuff like this in person, and on the phone, etc, but man, this was strange!

Just thought I’d share…

oh… and…

I am so excited!! August is going to be great. I get to drive to Yosemite (where I’ve never been!!) on the 30th of July to see my little bro. And I’ll come back around the 2nd of August. And then on the 14th of August, I’m going to NYC. It’s been far too long since I’ve been there (less time has passed since I went to Vegas, but NYC is so flippin’ rad!!!!) and I’m going for an old high school friend’s wedding. It’ll be great!! I also get to see friends there. It’s all just gravy. I’m stoked. I’ll be there for four whole nights. YIPPEE!!!! Just wanted to share. I love to WALK so much in NYC, it’s just great…

I concur with Cheryl…

…so I copy.

More Theatre in SD, among other things

I recently went to San Diego to see the slew of babies and baby mamas and baby daddies I know in SD. I reconnected with a few people I hadn’t seen in around 15 years – AMAZING! And Kind of strange. I saw a play one of the old HS friends directed, which I thought was brilliant. It sounded very British to me, and lo and behold – it was! Esther said, ‘well, yes, people are familiar with Caryl Churchill.’ Not me, but apparently others are!! Anyway, it was a great show, with not many actors in it (that’s an understatement, as there were two). I thought it was really well done, and you San Diegans should go see it. Again, it’s called A Number and it’s done by the Cygnet Theatre Company. The theatre is the Rolando Theatre and it’s just barely east of SDSU. It plays till June 29th.

In addition, where Esther works the most is MOXIE Theatre. They’re doing a play called “The Listener” and I’d really like to see it – just not sure if I can get down there for a two week run. It looks fabulous, and you should go see it!!

A play in San Diego

My friend Esther, from long ago high school days, is directing a show in San Diego. It starts 5/31… you should all go. I’m going to go on 6/1, on a Sunday afternoon. It’s called “It’s a Number” and it’s being done by the Cygnet Theatre Company – at the Rolando Theatre. Here’s the link.  Cygnet Theatre Company
