word of the day news

Okay, so just before Christmas, one of the listserves I belong to did a group of words that had to be figured out by readers and guesses could be emailed in to Anu.

Here’s the list:
anthropomorphize
Kafkaesque
dysphagia
excursive (I think this may describe my sentences sometimes)
jabberwocky

I couldn’t figure it out and then I saw the other email that had the answer… I like the answer, so thought I would share…
The answer is: Noel, as in “No el”. Those five words  used all the letters
of the English alphabet except the letter L.
The word Noel is from French noël (the Christmas season),
from Latin natalis dies (birth day [of Jesus Christ]) which is the past
participle of nasci (to be born).
I liked it, and since I’m a random, excursive person, thought I’d share…

Happy Friday!!
