Okay, so here’s a story for ya… I had to drive to Albertsons to get TP for my SB store on Friday of last week. The health department was there and to not have TP would have been a health code violation. So, had to run across the parking lot to get it – and instead of running, I drove, it seemed easier at the time. I purchased the giant amount and got back into my car and started it. I put it into gear and then the RPMs went to ZERO and the car stopped. I turned it off and started again. And the same thing happened. All the battery power was working, but each time I put it into gear, the engine stopped.
I was stumped. And freaked out, b/c I had an interview later that day and I needed my car. I ran back to SB and resolved the toilet paper issue, but then there was the whole CAR issue. I called my towing people, and she said it might be a warranteed thing – I was ecstatic. My car was towed a few miles away to a dealership where they had to evaluate the problem. I drove over there after work, after calling them like 3 times already that day. By the last time, the service advisor was like, “Just come here, I’ll give you a rental car, you won’t have to pay!” That’s the ticket – make them sick of ya!! So I drove over there, with the help of my roommate and by that time, they knew what the problem was, and figured that it was going to be under warranty, at least he hoped, b/c the problem was something that no one had seen on a car of my age.
I got to drive a jetta for the weekend, with weird buttons on the clicker. It also tells me about what radio station I’m on, and what show is on, and all of that… it is interesting… And since we’ve been dying of heat down here in SoCal, it’s been fun to have the little added info of the temp on my odometer panel… it’s been shocking to read 100 degrees! Yeeks!!
But, on Monday, Chris from the dealership called me while at the grocery store and said, “The part came in, your car should be done around 12noon tomorrow.” I said, “And it IS under warranty, right? As in, I won’t have to pay for anything?” C: “Of course, you don’t have to pay for anything…”
Noelle does the happy dance of joy at Wild Oats and her roommate looks at her like she’s crazy… perhaps I am. What of it? Regardless, I will go get my car after work today and then will dance like a crazy person again!! It had something to do with a fuel valve and air getting to the gas, or something… Wasn’t the starter, wasn’t the injector, it was all jacked up. That’s Noelle’s comment on it. So there.
But, the fact of the matter is… I will get my car back, and will not have to pay for it. Good news to me!
This is why I’m happy and fine with the fact that I bought the extended warranty with towing and roadside assistance! I’ve already needed gas once with them!!
you’re crazy and oh, i can’t believe you had to be away from your car, your life. your bumpin music for that long, so props on the standoff.
miss you,
Jess
